Effects
Effects are temporary things that can be applied to a character. They will effect your Action and the Action of others.
Types of Effects
State
State describes how your character is. They can’t be removed other than by exiting that state.
Status
Status are things effecting you directly that could change.
List Of Effects
Brittle
Materials protecting you have stopped behaving as they are supposed to.
- Your Resistance no longer reduces incoming damage.
Removing
- Removed at the end of the scene.
- Removed with repairs or other intervention.
Deafened
You can’t hear.
- You cannot do anything relying on your ears.
- You count as Disoriented.
Removing
- Last until the end of the Scene.
Defeated
You have collapsed, either dead or incapacitated, unable to aid your allies further. This might consist of having to put pressure on wounds, being in shock, actually being unconscious, or any number of narrative appropriate scenarios.
Removing
- Anyone can do a basic stabilization of a defeated Character. This is a very basic test to make sure they are no longer bleeding, their burns have been covered, etc. This is a Application Fixed Difficulty(0). When someone stops being defeated they become Injured.
In Cover
You are partially, or totally, obfuscated from your opponent.
- A Character further than Reach from you suffers (-2) to all attacks targeting you.
- You may suffer a (-4) on all Action to make it impossible for people outside Reach to target you with Attacks until your next Action.
Removing
- You cannot be in cover if you are In Melee.
- If you move away from whatever is providing you with cover.
In Melee
Your character moves around and connects weapons with combatants.
- If a character in melee moves to something further than in Reach, others may perform Attack of Opportunity against them.
- Characters in melee suffer a negative to Ranged Attack equal to the greatest Threat among Opponent within Reach and also in melee.
- If your Allies are greater than enemies in melee you receive a (+1) to all Attack.
Removing
There must be no other combatants in melee within Reach.
On Fire
Your character or their clothing is currently burning.
- Whenever you act, you suffer 2 Heat damage, if this causes Injury Damage, you take an additional 2 Heat damage the next time this occurs.
- Whenever you would perform an Action make an Endurance Fixed Difficulty(0) skill test, if you fail you may only perform actions to remove this effect.
Removing
- To put yourself out is an Application Fixed Difficulty(0). If you succeed, you are no longer on fire.
Prone
You have been knocked to the ground.
Removing
perform a Coordination Fixed Difficulty(0):
- If you succeed, you may stand as a Free Action.
- If you fail, you will need to spend your Action to remove prone.
Transformed
You have become something else, if temporarily.
- You have the NPC Attributes of another Character.
- You cannot use abilities other than those provided by the NPC Attributes.
Removing
- Removed by disrupting the source of the transformation.
- Removed when you go to 0 Integrity (this reverts your integrity to whatever it was prior to transformation).
